Sunday...another beautiful day.....

We have had a wonderful Sunday afternoon.... we went to church and then went out to eat to celebrate my moms birthday. We then came home and spent the rest of the afternoon outside. I am still working on my granny square..I have decided to make a lap blanket in spring colors. I have also been reading the new crochet magazine looking how they combine yarn colors.

We have our garden tilled....bigger than last year as you can see from the picture above. My husband planted lettuce in the garden today.... Our hoop house is warming up nicely..it has been near 70 or above the last few days. We have been hardening off the lettuce that is now in the garden. We have many tomatoes that will soon be visiting the hoop house.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend reader..we start back to our homeschooling tomorrow...we only have 4 more weeks then we will be out for summer break. My youngest daughter will soon be a junior in high school ..oh, my :) :)

Our Weekend........

I hope you had a wonderful weekend reader..I know we did. We spent most of the day outdoors on Saturday ...I think that first step outside after winter ....it can be so over whelming there is so much to do:) We did work on the chicken coop...we are letting grass grow in our big chicken pasture....so we had to add on to our coop to move them over to our little chicken tractor. The chickens are now enjoying fresh spring grass.

I walked around the yard looking at all that needs to be done before the leaves start growing on the trees:) We only own 1 acre but...that can be too much if you want everything to look nice:) We really need  to begin burning there are so many  broken tree branches that fell during the winter...and we need to tend to the land near our creek..it has gotten a little out of control.

Our daughters enjoyed coloring eggs like every year...I doubt they will ever grow to old to dye eggs..Easter is one of our favorite holidays!! This year our cat Macy enjoyed  watching all the eggs dipped in colors...

We woke up early for Sunday school and church...Every year our daughters get a basket even though we don't eat sugar. They are now getting older so the goodies this year were i tunes cards,a gift card to their favorite clothing store, socks and a Christian Book.

We had a wonderful church service almost every seat was full....then a good lunch with my mom and family. I think this year was a little extra special since my step-dad hasn't been feeling so well....it made being with my family more of a blessing :)   We don't get to be with all of our  family much and it really makes me sad that we don't get to spend special moments being together... because life now gets to be so busy.

When I was younger we had to live with my grandma and every holiday was small but our family was always together not on cell phones texting  but talking, not just spending an hour or two but all day. Times sure have changed....maybe it is because families don't live near by...you now have to take job so far away because the pay is better..I don't know but it sure makes me sad. I know that I really enjoyed being with all my family....and I know our time here on earth is very short....I don't want to take one moment or one family member for granted.....I don't ever want to say...I wish.... I would have or could have or should have...........

Crocheted Granny Squares Yarn Along 88

Crocheted Granny Squares

I am so glad to be with you for this weeks yarn along...As I look at the picture above...I wish there were more to show you. It has taken me over a week to learn the simple process of a Granny Square...for some reason it just didn't click.

As you look at each square above only one is even close to being right:) I think I will like the process of crocheting a small square and then piecing them together....but I am not really liking changing colors  much...I feel like I am wasting yarn each time I switch colors...and weaving in the tails is a bit of a pain...but I hope I will get use to all the changes:)

I really can't wait to get a few squares made to see what a scarf will look like? I have been reading many crochet blogs about making a blanket which takes sometimes 250 squares..Yikes!! That would be a big project for me...but they are small squares and I could make a few at a time right?

I hope you are having a wonderful week reader and thank you for stopping by!!

Crocheted Doily Yarn Along 86

Crocheted Doily

As you can see above I am working on a little doily making...I have never crocheted doilies and really have never thought about making any....but I have a little table that we inherited and the other day when I was dusting... I kept thinking something was missing...and I have now decided to make a doily for this table. I have made 5 little circles and I will crochet/sew  them all together.  I will then  have to find the starch that you soak the doilies in to make them stiff...I have no idea what that is just yet....always something to learn. I am very excited to see how this will look...I have never crocheted with thread so this is all very new and exciting!!
